Biodegradable film(Compostable plastic film) is a type of plastic film that is capable of breaking down into harmless substances such as carbon dioxide and water through the action of microorganisms (e.g. bacteria and fungi) in the natural environment. This material was originally designed to reduce the long-term environmental pollution problems caused by conventional plastics, especially problems such as marine litter and soil contamination. Biodegradable films are mainly composed of natural polymers or synthetic polymers that can be utilized by microorganisms present in nature under certain conditions and eventually degrade completely. The main features of biodegradable films are:
- environmental protection: compared with ordinary plastics, biodegradable films can complete the degradation process in a shorter period of time, reducing environmental pollution.
- Versatility: According to the needs of different application scenarios, the physical properties, such as transparency and flexibility, can be changed by adjusting the ratio of raw materials.
- Safety: Most biodegradable materials come from plant resources, which are non-toxic and harmless to the human body, and are suitable for use in food packaging and other fields.
